How to report a leaver with no payment after leaving to HMRC

Can anyone clarify the process for reporting leavers to HMRC, if the person has had no payment in the current tax year. When we run the monthly FPS we normally enter a 6th April Reporting date so that anyone who has left since the start of the tax year is reported in the FPS. But if a person has had no payment in the current tax year, they just error in the FPS (RTI Reporting Asg has no payment made in the current tax year. Hence, not processing in FPS.) So how do we inform HMRC they have left?
