Convert a Measure to not be TEXT in REPORTS

I have Configured Fields on an Activity that I then SUM in MEASURES to get the Project level value. However when I go to REPORT on the MEASURE it reports it as MEASURE STORED as Text which I then can't sum up across all Projects for a total number. How can I get it to be an actual number?
