Late Charges -Not generating Debit Memo after cancel the existing Debit Memo

Version:12.2.9

There is a requirement from business.

Business has generated the debit memo on overdue transacting for Late charges of 30 days, but customer did not pay on original invoice after generated Debit Memo even due date 30 day of Debit memo.

So, business wants to cancel (apply CM or adjustment) the first DB which was generated earlier and generate another DB for 60 days on original overdue invoice.

We have tried above scenario, but Debit Memo is not generated for 60 days after cancel the 1st Debit Memo.

Please let us know why it is not happening. If functionality is not available, what would be the approach to achieve.
