Massachusetts PFML (MLI/FLI) Setup When Employer is Exempt from MA UI
Hi Everyone,
Looking for guidance on how other PeopleSoft Payroll customers are handling Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (PFML) when the employer is not liable for MA Unemployment Insurance.
Here’s our situation:
- Our agency is a Virginia employer. We report and pay UI to Virginia.
- Massachusetts closed our UI account, so we cannot and should not report MA UI.
- However, employees who work in MA are still subject to Massachusetts PFML (Medical Leave Insurance and Family Leave Insurance).
From what I understand in delivered PeopleSoft:
- PFML (MLI/FLI) logic seems tied to the UI checkbox on the State Tax Data record.
