How can we resolve a GL error when processing retro absences for departments that are inactive?
Each year, our company restructures departments, and some departments are made inactive as of the start of our fiscal year (9/1). We use PeopleSoft Release 9.2 PUM 51 for Absence Management, Commitment Accounting, General Ledger, and Payroll for North America. We also allow retroactive absence processing.
At the beginning of each fiscal year, we consistently encounter GL errors when retro absences are processed for employees whose departments have been inactivated. Our HR department is not willing to temporarily reactivate these departments for payroll processing or modify the job data records to reflect an active department.
This appears to be a common issue among PeopleSoft users. Aside from reactivating the department or altering job data, what other options or best practices are available to clear or prevent these GL errors during retro absence processing?
