Question about Flash Cache files and missing storage

Hi all,

Got a quick question about how Oracle will handle Smart Flash Cache files if their storage goes offline. Couldn't find any answers in the documentation.

We're running Enterprise Edition 19.27 on Oracle Linux 8, in AWS with mostly EBS storage. We've got 2 mounts (ephemeral storage) which house the flash-cache files, which are about 1.7tb each. They've been in place for about a year with no issues.

We had an incident a few days ago where some production databases went down due to storage issues. AWS Support told us that the root cause was a sudden spike in IOPS on two volumes where our ORACLE_HOME's are housed. But it's not clear what could have caused this spike. Our sys admins found something which suggested that our flash-cache volumes had gone offline briefly.

Howdy, Stranger!
