Has anyone experienced AWE for PositionApproval NOT firing when creating a new effective dated defID

We cloned the delivered 1/1/1900 Position definition id. Renamed it, new effective date. Set it up with criteria. Processed transactions. Approvals flow worked as expected. We needed to add more criteria. Once an AWE process definition id is used, and you need to edit it, you must create a new one (plus sign to add approvers, is not available). So we did that. With this particular Process ID: PositionApproval, we cannot get the approvals to be triggered. When you preview the process approval it shows as we designed it.
