Impact of Moving from OCI-Managed Oracle Database to DBaaS
We currently host our Oracle Database on OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure), where we manage all aspects of database administration — including installation, backups, recovery, and maintenance. In addition, we use managed cron jobs to run scheduled tasks.
Before moving to DBaaS (Database as a Service), we would like to understand how our operations would change and what capabilities we might gain or lose.
🔹 Key Questions
- How will DBaaS help us compared to our current setup on OCI?
Since we currently manage everything ourselves (installation, backup, recovery, cron scheduling, etc.), we want to understand the advantages DBaaS provides in terms of automation, maintenance, and reliability.
