Why is the Work Order Requested Date (DRQJ) always updated to match the Start Date in JDE E1?

I’ve read your previous response to another user who asked a similar question — you mentioned that this is how the system is designed to work.

However, I’d like to better understand why it was designed this way.
In our environment, whenever we modify the Start Date, the Requested Date (DREQ) automatically changes to match it exactly.

I can understand that this might make sense for production purposes, but as a maintenance supervisor, it’s important for me to keep the original Request Date — the date when the maintenance was initially requested.

So, my questions are:

1. What is the business or technical reason behind this system behavior?
