Replacing SAM Disk with NAS Server for Oracle EBS — Any Real-Case, Recommended Specs

Hi all

We are planning to replace our existing SAM disk storage with a NAS server for our Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS R12) environment and would like to gather insights before implementation.

We are evaluating NAS as shared storage for the following EBS components:

  • $APPLPTMP, $COMMON_TOP, and $FND_TOP temporary or shared directories
  • Concurrent Processing output/log files
  • Custom applications, report outputs, and user upload files

We’d appreciate your input on these points:

  1. Any real cases where NAS successfully replaced SAM disk in an EBS environment?
  2. Key performance or reliability differences between NAS and SAN/SAM storage.
  3. Recommended
