Lot Control using FIFO and NO Expiration Date

Can I add blanks to H40/CD and H41/EC or will that cause problems? These are Commitment Date Method and Lot Expiration Date Method.

I'm not sure what else to do if I have an item with a LOT that will never expire. Testing an inventory adjustment, it's forcing a lot expiration date. I assume other transactions will also enforce this.
