RTF BI Publisher Properties Issue: Formatting Date causes print to fail

in BI Publisher (MOSC) Question

When I use the BI Publisher Properties to format (ex. MM/DD/YYYY) to format date fields in the RTF file it fails to print. As in the report throws an error.

If I switch to the manual <?FORMAT-DATE: field_name; 'MM/DD/YYYY'?> it prints fine.

I've never had this problem in the past. Anyone else experiencing it?
