Metric Extension: grep for a string?

Hi,

We have an ME thats greps after "ERROR" in a logfile (works fine, but we need more information). Is it possible to grep for the text after the error? And send it to OEM? If we found an error, we return a 2. Can we return the full text in an variable as well?
