Question on Combination rule

We are on PeopleSoft 9.2. I need to add anchor chartfield & non-anchor chartfield to an existing Combination rule. The rule has three sequences each storing values for anchor & non anchor chartfields. Per my understanding, the sequences denote the multiple chartfield combination included in the rule. When Chartfield Edit process runs, the system looks for all three sequences. If the anchor chartfield on a transaction matches with that defined in any of the sequences, the system looks for the corresponding non anchor chartfield defined in the rule sequence and marks the chartfield string as either "valid" or "error".
