Using skipped emplids

My company has been using PeopleSoft since 1998 (or thereabouts). For unknown reasons when they first started using PeopleSoft they had a policy to skip emplids. They would only use every 7th emplid. No, I do not know the reasoning for this, this was well before my time. When I started here in 2019, one of the first things I did was switch us to using every single emplid, so that previous policy has long been retired. The problem we are facing now is that we are running up to the max emplid limit (they had it set at 6
