Calling document sequence within a custom procedure

I have defined a document sequence for AR Transaction numbering for a specific batch source. The document sequence number is called XXX Rates Invoices. I have also defined a batch source called XXX Rates Invoices batch source and set this to automatic transaction numbering so that when the data imports into Oracle it will automatically generate the transaction number

I have defined a custom table to bring the data in from an custom ADI Web Integrator. My custom table does not store transaction number or transaction date. Is this the correct way to do this?
