Password File Format Upgraded From 12 to 12.2 Starting from 19.28 - Precaution In DG Setup

Hi,

Here is some experience we had during patching our X9-2 from 19.27 to 19.30, which might be helpful if you have DG setup in between ODAs.

We have DG setup between DBS between two X9-2L at different location. According to Scenario: Patching Integrated Oracle Data Guard, the rule is to patch database to new home at Standby side, do a swithover then do the same to the new standby, then do a datapatch at primary.

Since the password file format will be upgraded from 12 to 12.2 in the process of 'odacli update-database', which will get the standby database pwfile upgraded first. Then a switchover happen, which will break the log apply process as the new standby is still having pwfile format 12.

Howdy, Stranger!
