Attempting to print HCM 9.2 Payroll PDF Checks with Troy Printer MICR SIMM, what am I missing?

We are currently printing checks and advices with the legacy process to a Troy Printer with the MICR on a SIMM chip. But not all regulatory updates get applied to the legacy format. Our Check signatures are already stored as an image on the server. We are on HCM 9.2 PUM53 Tax Update 26-B, on Peopletools 8.61.17.

I am working on implementing PDF Checks and attempting to use the same TROY MICR font.

I have inserted the escape codes in the delivered RTF template (see attached).

However, when print using Adobe Reader, from the Report Repository, the PCL Escape codes get printed on the check, and the MICR font is not applied. It seems like, looking at all the dcocumentation, that is all I needed to do? What am I missing?
