19c Oracle Restart (SIHA) on OL8 — DB always SHUTDOWN ABORTs on OS reboot

Hello All,

Anyone cracked a graceful auto-close? I'm looking for ideas or solutions dealing with daily os patching.

Setup: 19.32 GI+DB, standalone Oracle Restart, ASM, OL8.10.

Problem: On OS reboot (systemctl reboot) with the DB open, the instance is terminated with SHUTDOWN ABORT → crash recovery on startup. In-flight app transactions roll back.

What I've tested (all still abort):

  • srvctl stop database -o transactional manually → clean every time (so graceful IS possible)
  • Set the resource stop mode: srvctl modify database -stopoption TRANSACTIONAL → still aborts on reboot
  • systemd ExecStop unit → aborts
  • shutdown.target oneshot → aborts
  • ExecStop drop-in on oracle-ohasd.service ordered before
