Managing EBS on ODA – Patching and UAT Refresh

We are migrating our Oracle EBS environment from Solaris to ODA and would like to understand the best practices from anyone currently running EBS on ODA.

Our main concerns are:

  • ODA patching: ODA creates a new Oracle Home during patching ( out of place ) . For EBS, this may require reconfiguration to point to the new DB Oracle Home. What is the recommended approach for applying quarterly CPU/RU patches to an EBS database on ODA?
  • RMAN restore/UAT refresh: If we restore/refresh the EBS UAT database/PDB using RMAN, how does the restored database get registered/synchronized with the ODA repository and ODA Console?
