Hyperion Planning 11.2.x on-prem question: Changing Dimension Density on live environment

I'm a long time Hyperion Planning dev/admin with a question. We've got a system that was architected by Devs who have since left the project. We recently partnered with a sub-contractor who's keen on updating dimension density settings to improve performance. In my experience I've always heard that modifying a live prod ENV's Dimension density is not preferable. I do think in theory the change will be a net positive. However, I know the downstream changes (BRs, external SQL, form updates, etc.) might make the effort more trouble than it's worth. In over 10years of work in this space, I
