    An interesting case study.

It is not clear, but it must have been a file system hot backup rather than an rman backup that was used.

I would add that you should run some diagnostics on the 9i database before embarking on this. In particular, utlu102i.sql and utltzuv2-10.sql should be run to inform the upgrade process as there are many situations that might need to be addressed.

I noticed that the controfile was created with NOARCHIVELOG mode. However it seems like the 9i database was in ARCHIVELOG mode. Was this done intentionally ? If yes, what was the objective behind it ?

      Bob,

Thanks for pointing that out....I'd appreciate if you could go through this case study and point out
if there are any mistakes in it "Case Study: Migrating to ASM using DBMS_FILE_TRANSFER.COPY_FILE"

      OraFreak,

That was an inadvertent mistake. I'd appreciate if you could go through this case study and point out
if there are any mistakes in it "Case Study: Migrating to ASM using DBMS_FILE_TRANSFER.COPY_FILE"
