Custom Field Only Shows In Edit Mode

Hi,
We have a custom item field that was set up years ago.  It shows on a custom tab of kit/packages & has not been changed recently.  A few weeks ago we noticed that the field & its label don't show at all in view mode, but we can see them in edit mode. 

Has anyone seen anything like this before?  Any ideas of how to fix it?
