Duplicating customer addresses with merging duplicate customer records

Dear Guru,

I have my system define a duplicate customer based on full email address. When 2 customer records match, I typical select the merge rule that selects the record with the most fields populated as the master. I noticed that when i merge customers that multiple records of the same shipping and billing addresses get created. Any ideas to reduce or eliminate redundant addresses on the customer record?
