Creating new domain types in NetSuite is identical and depends on the business needs. However, the information you enter in the Domain record is different depending on the domain type you select.
It is mentioned on SuiteAnswers Article "Convert a Web Store Only Domain to a Single Domain for Web Store and Checkout", that only secure Webstore Only domains can be upgraded to Single Domains for Web Store and Checkout. Converting domains may be confusing since, users have different DNS provider and have a different set of timeline for the DNS to take effect on NetSuite. But worry not, we have created an easy step by step process to follow in converting a Secure Web Store domain and to a Single Domain for Webstore and Checkout.
You will need to be logged in on your NetSuite UI.
1. Navigate to Commerce > Hosting > Domains > New
2. Create a domain record with Domain Type set to Web Store Only
3. Save the domain record.
4. Wait for the Deployment Status to complete and be marked check.
5. Configure the CNAME of the domain record on your domain provider. (Note: CNAME should look like the screenshot below)
6. Edit the new domain record and enable the SSL Certificate
7. Save the domain record.
8. Wait for the Deployment, DNS, Certificate statuses to be completed and marked check. (may take about 2-8hrs)
9. Edit the now Secure Web Store domain record and change the Domain Type to Single Domain for Web Store and Checkout
10. Save the domain record and wait for the Deployment, DNS, Certificate statuses to complete and be marked check.
The time it takes for your web store to go live on your domain depends on your domain provider. Typically, redirection takes place 2 – 48 hours after completing the setup. While the setup is in progress, you cannot make changes to the domain settings until the deployment status is Live.
