Excluding specific items from Order Promotion calculation in SuitePromotions

We use Order Type Exclusive Promotions to do tiered discounts based on order amount. We have a scenario where we want to have a sale on some items but we want to exclude those items from calculated discount of the Order Type Exclusive Promotion so as to not discount those items to the point where we lose money on them. Is there a way to do this?
