NSC | Why Inventory Distribution Cannot Be Used Across Subsidiaries in OneWorld
Scenario
A user working in a NetSuite OneWorld account tries to use the Inventory Distribution transaction to move inventory between subsidiaries. When they attempt to select or change the subsidiary, the field is not available as expected.
Solution
This is standard NetSuite behavior. The Inventory Distribution transaction is used to allocate unassigned inventory to specific locations within the same subsidiary. It is not an intercompany transaction, so it does not support direct distribution between different subsidiaries.
What to Expect
- The transaction is tied to a single subsidiary.
- You can use it to distribute inventory to locations within that subsidiary.
- You cannot use it to move inventory directly between subsidiaries.
