In the previous article, we explored the Narrative Insights cabinet and how it uses AI to generate concise transaction summaries, helping users quickly understand key transaction details, related records, and important business events. Directly below the Narrative Insights cabinet is another valuable feature, the GL Impact cabinet. While Narrative Insights focuses on providing a business-oriented summary of a transaction, the GL Impact cabinet offers visibility into the transaction's accounting impact, allowing users to understand how the transaction affects the General Ledger.
The General Ledger (GL) Impact represents the accounting entries created when a transaction is processed. It shows which General Ledger accounts are affected, enabling users to verify that transactions have been recorded accurately. Reviewing the GL Impact is essential for validating financial postings, investigating discrepancies, and understanding how a transaction contributes to the organization's financial records.
In NetSuite Next, you no longer need to navigate to the Accounting tab to view the GL Impact. Simply click the GL Impact cabinet on the right side of the transaction record, just below the Narrative Insights cabinet, to quickly access the transaction's accounting details.
