Issue:
When changing the base currency for a Root Parent Company that does not have any transactions recorded in it yet, the system displays the following message: "An unexpected error has occurred. Please click here to notify support and provide your contact information.", that prevents administrators from changing the Currency assigned to the Root Parent Subsidiary.
Cause:
By default, the Currency Field will be greyed-out once the Subsidiary has recorded transactions. If the Root Parent Subsidiary has no transactions yet, the field should still be editable. Users may need to check if the Return Email Address field on the Company Information record has been populated. Because this is a required field, the system may return an unexpected error when an administrator attempts to save changes, and the Return Email Address field is empty.
Resolution:
- Navigate to Setup > Company > Company Information
- Edit the Root Parent Company's SUbsdiairy Record
- Enter a valid email address in the Return Email Address field
- On the Currency dropdown, select the required base currency
- Click Save
- Navigate to Setup > Company > Subsidiaries
- Open the applicable parent company record
- Confirm that the Currency field reflects the selected base currency.
Note: After a Return Email Address is provided, the currency update should save successfully either from the Company Information page or directly from the Subsidiary Record itself.
