Hi all,
I'm trying to run the standard Fixed Assets Management reports — Asset Register, Asset Summary, Depreciation Schedule/NBV, etc. — filtered to a specific accounting period, rather than just seeing current values.
Specifically, I need to:
- Pull asset-level Cost, Accumulated Depreciation, and Net Book Value as of a selected past accounting period (not today's values)
- Use this to reconcile against our GL Fixed Asset and Accumulated Depreciation account balances for that same period, by subsidiary, in local currency
One complication for the recon: we've noticed that some Depreciation History records have a created/system date that doesn't align with the accounting period they're actually posted to — e.g., a transaction created or backdated outside its period. This means filtering purely by a record's date field can pull in (or miss) transactions relative to the accounting period they actually belong to, which throws off the reconciliation if not handled carefully.
Questions:
- Do the native FAM reports (Asset Register, Asset Summary, NBV Schedule) support filtering/running "as of" a specific closed accounting period, or do they only reflect current-state values?
- If they do support period filtering, is there a specific filter/parameter I'm missing, or does it require a certain report type vs. others?
- For reconciliation purposes, should we be filtering/joining on the DHR's Accounting Period field specifically (rather than its date field) to avoid the created-date-vs-period mismatch issue above? Is that reliably populated in your experience?
- Has anyone built a reliable period-based reconciliation process between FAM and the GL — and if so, did you use native reports, saved searches on FAM Depreciation History, or a custom workbook/script? How did you handle the date-vs-period misalignment?
Any guidance, screenshots of the correct filter setup, or links to relevant documentation would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
