Shipping Weight Integration

What has been done to do this?

Want to use the standard NS Shipping integration with UPS and FedEx.

Use to having the Weight done on a scale integrate with legacy system.

What is the best way to do this, with the least amount of customization.

I realize that there are partner products out there that do this.

I thought I remember hearing of a way to do this?
