Add Additional Subsidiary On Item Records

We are setting up an international subsidiary and I need to add that to item records. Can this be done via a CSV import or Mass Update? I was testing in the Sandbox and did find that I received this error.

The subsidiary set on this record must be the same as the subsidiary set on the distribution network.

I went to the distribution network and I am not able to update with the new subsidiary. Any thoughts on how to set up all our items to include the new subsidiary?
