How to resolve error when updating a NetSuite item?

I'm getting this NetSuite error when I try to UPDATE a matrix child item:

There is already an item with that name.<br>. Go <a href="javascript:history.go(-1);";>back</a>, change the name and resubmit.

I'm just changing the vendor price on an existing child item. I'm not editing the item's name.
