How to update Invoice template to include discount line

Hello,

My accounting dept has asked me to modify our invoice template to include a discount line above the subtotal line. I am new to netsuite but have been poking around. My questions are:

  1. Does the change need to be done on the xml file or pdf file?
  2. if done on xml, what is the name of the variable for the discount?
