What effect will changing the costing method(Average to FIFO) to P&L and BS?

So other than deleting lot number inventory items (to reflect 0), changing method and then returning lot numbered inventory to newly created parts, is there anything else that needs to happen? What effect will changing the costing method have to our P&L and BS?
