How to create Saved Search to see Annual Average Total Purchases for all customers?

Hi!

I've been trying various saved search formulas to calculate the average total purchases for all customers by year. No matter what I try, I end up with the average single transaction amount for the given time period. The question I'm trying to answer is: How much did customers spend each year on average?

Any formula gurus out there want to help get me unstuck? :)

PS: Each line in the results could be year specific if that's the only way to do it.
