Link Project to Sales Order without Copying Project Tasks to Sales Order

I have a Charge-Based billing Project with fixed milestone rules. When I link the Project to a Sales Order, NetSuite automatically copies the milestones from the Project as lines into the Sales Order (default NS behavior). Is there a way to prevent this as we are using the Sales Order to track item groups and would like a cleaner Sales Order? The Project is linked at header level and was not created from the Sales Order. The Sales Order was also not created from the Project.
