Is there NetSuite backed documentation surrounding adding an item Subscription Plan

Is there NetSuite backed documentation surrounding not being able to add an item to a Subscription Plan that is already tied to Price Books and many transactions? I know you can do an add-on item after installing Subscription Billing Enhanced UI Suite App.
