Field on Sales Order to source value from Item Fulfillment

We have a field stored on our Item Fulfillments.

Users enter a 6 digit code into the field on the fulillment.

We can have multiple fulfillments linked to the one Sales Order and the code varies on each Item Fulfilment.

We want the Sales order to display the code used on the latest fulfillment.

I have setup a field to display on the Sales Order, however I am having issues trying to source the value from the linked fulfillments. At the moment the field results shows as empty on the Sales Order.
