Entering scrap on sub assembly

What is the best way to allow scrap to be entered against a subassembly? We have Advanced manufacturing. At present the subassembly is phantom.

(the business process is that the components are assembled on the subassembly, then this is divided out and finished on the main assembly. It's all done on one machine as one concurrent process. The finishing does not incur loss, but the componenets do.
