Parallel/Branch/Split Routing with Manufacturing Routings

With the Manufacturing Routing feature in SCM, is it possible to define routings that have two sequences of operations that happen in parallel? We are contemplating moving to WIP + Routings, but there is not always a linear sequence of steps involved in producing our goods. Sometimes the manufacturing process splits off into two or more branches and then comes together again in the end to produce the final part, like in the diagram below:


Does the routing aspect of NetSuite allow for such flexibility? Or are we locked into a purely a step-by-step sequence for an item?
