Mid-Month Vendor Bill Amoritization

Accounting entered a vendor bill with amortization beginning on the 10th of the month and ending 12 months later on the 9th of the month however NetSuite amoritized it over 13 months. Is this normal or are we doing something wrong or need to set something up to support this?
