Hello Community! Josh Maxwell, a User Experience Researcher for NetSuite Foundation has fun a question for you. Imagine for a moment that NetSuite had an assistant like Alexa or Siri. What would you ask of your NetSuite assistant? Use this survey link to share your top questions to the assistant.
Here are some examples to get your creative juices flowing.
"Did I pay vendor John Doe last month?"
"Take me to my largest sales order for this month."
"What invoices haven't been paid yet?"

@User_52G6L are you running an item saved search? This is the full text I'm using that works best for me: case when {parent} is NOT NULL then SUBSTR( {name}, INSTR( {name}, ': ', 1) + 2) else '' end

I noticed that sometimes our accounts don't get an External ID auto-assigned to them. I've never really researched it or looked into it, just noticed that it happens sometimes. Is there any rhyme or reason why one account will get it automatically and another may not? Does it only happen on accounts that have billable…

What a cool idea! I'm a visual person, so I enjoy the idea of having a color coded option. I'm mad I didn't think of it haha. I'll definitely be saving this one!
-
Yea - we just went through the same thing recently. Some trainings that were previously available are now behind the company pass offering. We had to upgrade from a "single admin pass" to a company pass.

I personally love the in-line editing feature. I love using it for bulk editing via saved searches. I actually didn't know that the 'Show in List' option on custom fields is what turns that on. They should definitely mention that on the little help pop-up, because I had no idea all these years hahaha. I always just…

This is definitely one of those… why haven't I noticed this before moments. 😅 Thank you for this! Creating a saved search alone for this definitely saves me time from clicking that little "history" button on each line of the transaction.🤩

Nice! This was actually quite helpful. Never thought to generate a report to see how many opportunities don't have an Estimate/Quote generated for them. Tried it and it worked. Thanks!
-
I did something similar, but I didn't go the workflow route. I just did a saved search based off of the system notes of the Project Total field. We're only worry about changes after the transaction is approved, so it'll send me an email alert if the amount changes after an opp is already closed for example. Criteria…

Strange. I tried it in my sandbox & it worked ok for me. I marked the employee as inactive. Went back to transaction & they were no longer available to select as an option from the Sales Team dropdown box. Correct, you won't be able to delete them since they're tied to records, but deactivating should definitely have…
-
I would also caution to be careful with deactivating the employee record. We noticed that a basic payroll import wouldn't assign payroll records to the deactivated employee, so we usually set their Termination date immediately, but mark them as inactive only when their last payroll has been imported.
-
I use the Sales Rep field. Group by that one as the main rep. For Sales Team Member, I choose Minimum. That seems to work for me if there are multiple people on one transaction.
-
Hi Jareb! You can do that a few ways. 1: If you add "main line = true" to your criteria tab, that would show you 1 line for each transaction, but it would only show you header information, no line items. 2: To see one line for each item, you'd do "main line = false" in your criteria. That should get you 2 lines 3: We don't…

You could start with some audit saved searches. 1) If an Estimate is created w/o being attached to an Opportunity (opportunity field = blank), send an email alert out to the person who created the Estimate that an opp needs to be created. 2) When an Opp is created for an account that is tagged with a Lead Source & the opp…

I hope I understood your question! I believe for what you described we use campaign codes to keep track of that information. When we have a new campaign/ABM project, we create a new descriptive campaign code. Then when the rep gets interest, we create a $1 opportunity as a placeholder until they fully flush out the deal.…

I would say, enter Company XYZ as a Lead Account in NetSuite. Then, create 1 opportunity for them to buy product#1. That would turn their Account into a Prospect. Then, create opportunity#2 for them to buy product#2. That way, both initiatives/products could be tracked separately. Once they decide to buy opp#1, you'd…

Hi @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle ! Figured it out. I had a GLOBAL permission on my employee record set as VENDOR Create. So that was overriding the VENDOR Full permission that was on my Full Access role. ^_^ I'm all fixed now.
-
Thanks @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle !!
-
Apologies @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle ! I truly do appreciate your help. I thought this would be just a quick fix or quick idea, but the back & forth on this one may be ore than I'm willing to commit to since this is just a nice to have ^_^. I'm going to go ahead & open up a support ticket so I can do a screenshare &…
-
thanks @Emil T. - trying it on my personal device doesn't allow editing either.
-
@Michelle Jabanes-Oracle same scripts screenshots. none that affect editing vendors.
-
@Michelle Jabanes-Oracle no special scripts or workflows that I see. I did run a quick system notes report to see people are editing vendors and what roles they used to do it. Some do it as admin - but others did it in other roles. I tried those roles but still couldn't edit. For those that could edit, I compared their…

Hi @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle - my inline editing is fine on this role. :) I have it for other reports. It's just not there because I can't edit the vendors on that role... Here's the vendor record view looks like for each role. Here's what Oracle looks like on the custom full access role. Here's what Oracle looks like on my…

Morning @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle ! Are you using a NetSuite OneWorld account? Correct, we use OneWorld with multiple subsidiaries Are there any restrictions in the custom role or in the employee record? I do not have any restriction on my employee record for viewing across subsids From the Admin role, edit the Vendor…
-
THanks @Michelle Jabanes-Oracle but I do have all vendor permissions turned on. Enter Vendor Credits -> Full Post Vendor Bill Variances -> Full Vendor Bill Approval -> Full Vendor Return Auth. Approval -> Full Vendor Return Authorization -> Full Vendor Returns -> Full Vendors -> Full

Thank you for confirming my suspicions! Just glad I'm not crazy, this one time! LOL ?I'll assign the task to my ACS team to look into possible scripts to perform the action. Currently I have a daily scheduled mass update that performs the task for me, but I'd like something more instantaneous.
-
Thanks! Just what I was looking for. We had so many useless snapshots in our system. This way worked for me!
-
11 years later, I can't believe this is still a thing. I'm shocked. Came here to see if I was crazy. Nope. Last name is still not able to be marked as mandatory LOL! I'll get started working on a workflow & i'll go vote for SuiteIdeas enhancement #181432 ... Nuts...
