Have you tired creating RPD based connection and testing this instead of direct connection? This will eliminate the internal rpd that gets created based on XSA for direct connection and might have better load times IF the slowness is caused due to the loadmetadata.

Yes It was removed from July update due to third party issues which has been addressed and has been added back to the Sep update.

The right way to change ownership of an object would be to do this via console>content management>change ownership option. Have you tried this instead of revoking permissions for the owner via inspect?

Checking your instance internally I do see pause/resume activity on 09/20 and a pause on 09/22 and resume on 09/23.
