Description

Currently the users/clients want to export the DV as csv. But this option is not enabled for users with "DV Consumer" role. This is critically important functionality for my clients. Only BI Service Administrator role has the privilege now.

Agree. Many users still need to export as csv.

    1. Some to import the data into thrid party systems.
    2. (Sadly) some users prefer to export just to open the file with Excel for further analysis and manipulation. Showing they are not comfortable with Oracle yet.  or maybe Excel gives them some functionality that OAC does not.

Exactly! My users want for 2nd option.

  • The project might include multiple datasets, some of them might be live with billions of rows or a subject area with dozens of tables. The concept of exporting a project to CSV is very clear in that sense. In addition, it is not necessarily true that the author's intent was to allow the user unrestricted access to all data.

We will allow export to CSV as a viz level, meaning - applying the filters and scope as defined by the author (including OAC query/export limits). Unlike a project, a viz have a clearly defined query scope which can be used for export.

Thanks. Makes Sense. This feature of exporting only a individual viz is currently available.

    I'd raised a SR , This resolved my request. ( https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/SrDetail?_adf.ctrl-state=1254n17x2e_4&srDetailRelativeDateParam=null&queryModeName=Technical&srNumber=3-23897468291&needSrDetailRefresh=true&_afrLoop=1463847738757071 )

  • We will be adding an ability to export to an Excel format as well (mainly important to maintain pivot layout), but there is a different idea in the lab about it, you can go ahead and vote if you find it useful.

Sure. Thanks for that. But I'd appreciate if you could make the CSV export option design simpler, by allowing the user to select "CSV" and prompt him/her to select a visualization for exporting. Currently its vague and one has to know that from this forum.
