Description
Need ability to provide custom sort in the columns as per the requirement like sorting on months name ,sorting based on some custom condition in Oracle data visualisation.
Use Case and Business Need
Sorting based on month's sequence like jan, feb, mar instead of alphabetical sorting of months name.
Sorting based on some condition like in country column some specific countries should be on top and rest countries we can sort accordingly.

We have customers asking for similar functionality.
For eg. add period WID or 202101 , 202102 in order to sort this period names but it should not be visible in visualization or canvas to be used for narration.
Other customer was asking for income statement (sales, cost, operating expense) need to be in particular order and they created custom sort key. Now once they add sort key to visualization (pivot table), it sorts data as expected but they do not want to show this sort key to leadership (it does not make sense as well for CXO to see it).
Kindly expedite this enhancement.

We are in need of a custom sort for our users of the NHS.
Currently using Data Visualisation there is no functionality to create a custom sort (without going through the RPD layer). Adding in a case when would be useful which would create a custom column which is then able to be hidden, alike Classic.
Please can this functionality be looked into.

No timeframe to announce. We will change the status when we start development and again once we ship it. It is a bit of a ways down the dataset improvements list and for now I would implement the work around if you can or create a Subject Area for this use case.

A very needed functionality in daily reporting, please add as soon possible.

Also, It is good to consider a sort on the period / month in the filter selection. After selecting the month/period it is alphabetically sorted rather month number. Though this is sorted in RPD layer and working well in display but not in selection.
Please refer attached screenshot as reference. Good to have the sort functionality for filter selection as well.
Do we have any workaround to fix this?

It looks like, my Idea:
deals exactly with the same topic. Both Ideas are in Under Review status. Looking forward to have it implemented.

The sort dialog already allows you to sort an attribute (in this example, a text attribute that contains month names) by a measure serving as a sort key (for this scenario, it would be 'Month number', which can be created as a My Calc).
@Michal Zima the idea is to extend that to an attribute, which is a distinct request.
Putting my moderator hat on for a second.
- The original idea on this thread already exists (will be marked as Delivered).
- There is a pre-existing separate idea for sorting attributes by a secondary attribute; discussion on extending the existing 'by measure' functionality should happen there (linked by @Michal Zima ) - please vote for it if you support extending the existing capability to "By Attribute".
- There is an additional idea that came up in this thread, which is something like the 'ability apply sort to attribute filter values in list filters') - which is a good idea to have as a standalone idea (I think there is one, so please search before entering).

Hi @Gabby Rubin-Oracle - Thanks for the comments. I believe below one will be considered or under progress of extending the sorting for filter selected list values especially for Month - YY (ex: JAN-24,FEB-24,MAR-24 etc.,) will be fixed in the coming releases.
