Allow current version Excel (xlsx) templates in BI Publisher

Description
BI Publisher currently allows Excel templates only in Excel version 97-2003 (*.xls). Please update the BI Publisher software to accommodate the current version of Excel (*.xlsx). This will avoid issues with 65K records per sheet as well as provide other benefits of current Excel files. Thanks.
Use Case and Business Need
BI Publisher reports with hundreds of thousands of records.

I agree. In the current client, we have reports with more than 100 thousand records. Dividing it into two tabs provides a poor user experience.

This will be really helpfull!

Most, if not all, excel files in our M365 deployment autosave to .xlsx

Reporting on cost transfers - currently required in BI Publisher due to limited availability of data in the OTBI subject areas. A departments cost transfers must be reported and the current report generates 68 sheets within a single workbook making the user experience minimal at best.

This will be useful

HI,
OTBI reports build in Excel Template to be updated to exports in XLSX as the standard, instead of the 1997-2003 version that the current Cloud product still requires reports to be exported to.
The one that’s limited to only ~65,000 rows, and gives errors when trying to connect to the standard Excel version used since 2004: .xlsx?
Thanks
MAdhan.

I agree with this idea. The .xlsx template would provide more features to play around.

This is a much needed feature and has been requested by our client.

Yes - please. This .xls format is driving all of my users crazy.

We are currently encountering issues when generating XLSX and XLS files in BI Publisher reports.
In BI Publisher reports outputted in XLSX format, when the report size exceeds 12KB, the file undergoes column changes in a section of the report.
For BI Publisher reports with XLS output, files larger than 12KB encounter a problem where they cannot be opened, rendering the file corrupted.
