Hi Team,

It will be better if there is variable prompt plugin as visual instead as an extension, as the customers need is also the same and it will be a value addition for OAC standard edition.

Use Case and Business Need

If the variable prompt plugin is added in standard edition it will enables users to switch between the dimensions within a single report. This will be an alternative method for toggle option as many of the customers seek for this.

More details

Currently the variable prompt plugin is a custom visual and the issues related with variable prompt is not supported by oracle. In the upcoming version of OAC the variable prompt might not support.

Except for inclusion of variable prompt plugin into product, also functionality of this plugin should be extended (since in current form it is very very limited) - I have another Idea open for this topic (currently in "Planned Idea" status): https://cloudcustomerconnect.oracle.com/posts/db4b7a2965.

DV variables are in roadmap plans. Oracle is also reviewing the user experience of interacting with visuals.

Currently we cannot use presentation variables in DV. This will enable the end user to customize the reports to greater depths. Presentation variables also help in creating dynamic content.lack of them forces us to create the same report in Classic side

Parameters is GA with OAC March 2023 update and for OAS customers is available with the annual 2023 update.

Parameters in DV allows you to implement the use cases for presentation variables in Classic BI.
