Intermittently bi_server1 is getting down

Hi All,

We have installed Installed OBIEE12.2.1.2 version but recently we are having issues like bi_server1 is getting down and starting again. Any idea or thoughts on how to stop this issue or has anyone faced this issue?

We applied the below patches as well.

Hi,

It's difficult to imagine nothing is logged when it happen. So look at the messages you find in your logs when it happen and so you can at least try to investigate a cause instead of the result of something.

Thank you for your reply. We are seeing the messages like below but it is not showing why the bi_server1 went down.

<The server 'bi_server1' with process id 46336 is no longer alive; waiting for the process to die.>

<Sep 17, 2017 11:23:01 PM EDT> <INFO> <bi> <bi_server1> <Server failed so attempting to restart (restart count = 1)>

can you please suggest which log files we need to see. As of now we saw this message in nodemanager log file

You can start with this reference: OBIEE 12c: Quick Reference For Architecture, Lifecycle Management and File Locations (Doc ID 2067527.1).

I am on 11g, but you're going to need to look at the "managed server" logs for BI. These are located in: $MW_HOME/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/bi_server1/logs ... for me. Look for the 12c equivalent ...

You want: bi_server1-diagnostic.log, bi_server1.log, bi_server1.out
