There was a similar scenario described: The report runs in BIP and results in a XLS file. The file opened is read-only and has a generic name (XDO.XLSX).
The problem is, if we keep the file open and run the same or any other report with XLS output again, it hangs indefinitely. Closing the file from the first run doesn't help.
The only way to get rid of it is to close the session.
Can that be helped? For example, can we set up BIP to implicitly change the report name?
Of cause, if we run it in scheduler or rename the file after it was opened, the problem does not occur. However, we have to train our users to doing that and these are still extra steps that take time and better be avoided.
Any suggestions?

I assume you are seeing this issue when using Internet Explorer ? As when you use Mozilla Firefox or any other browser the file name will be the actual report name (something like TEST20%REPORT20%.xlsx) .. I do not know if there is a solution for this ..
